Character & Leadership Development

Development of character and leadership skills is crucial in helping our youth become responsible, successful and caring citizens in their communities. Character and Leadership programs provided by the BGCCC teach these skills by providing opportunities for planning, decision-making, and methods for contributing to their local Club and community. These programs also teach the necessary skills for participating in the democratic process and celebrating our national heritage.

Torch Club

Torch ClubThis small-group leadership and service program is targeted for youngsters ages 11-13. Each Torch Club is officially chartered by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and teaches members to learn to elect officers and work together to implement their own activities and community service projects.

Keystone Club

Keystone ClubsThe Keystone Club is a national service and leadership organization within the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. This premier program is for teenagers, ages 14-18, and is designed to create and maintain high standars of character and leadership, citizenship, health and education in order for teenagers to grow into responsible, productive adults. Keystone Club members initiate and organize local and national community outreach programs.

In March 2007, our very own Titan Keystone club from the Frisco Branch was awarded the National Programming Award at the national Keystone Club conference for the second consecutive year. Click here to read more about this exceptional group of teens!

Youth Of The Year

Youth Of The YearAs part of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America National Youth of the Year program, the BGCCC honors one youth each year as Youth of the Year in recognition of outstanding Club and community service, academic performance and contributions to family and spiritual life. The BGCCC Youth of the Year receives a certificate and medallion and enters into the state competions. State winners receive a plaque and $1,000 scholarship before being entered into regional competition. Five regional winners then receive and additional $10,000 scholarship. Of these five winners, a national Youth of the Year is chosen.
