It Just Takes ONE...The 2008 Campaign
It Just Takes ONE...The 2008 Annual Campaign for the Boys & Girls
Clubs of Collin County has a goal to raise $100,000. Funds raised in this
campaign will be used to for general operating expenses and are
absolutely necessary to run our organization successfully and continue
providing the highest level of quality programming for our kids.
BECAUSE OF GIFTS RECEIVED from our 2007 ANNUAL CAMPAIGN, we were
able to provide the following meaningful outcomes from our program:
- Children served increased from 3,800 in 2006 to 4,500 in 2007. We established three major new programs:
- Formulated a new Gang Prevention program in McKinney in collaboration
with the McKinney Police Department.
- Design and implementation of Destination Graduation - a pilot program
at Williams High School in collaboration with Plano ISD and United Way
designed to reduce drop out rates in PISD.
- Rolled out Verizon Wiz Kids - A technology program piloted at the
Plano Branch to introduce members to the world of technology. The program
was such a success that it is included in programming at all BGCCC
branches in 2008.
- Secured a new 17,000 square foot facility for our Frisco children.
This will more than double the current space and the number of children
served in the Frisco area.
- Remodeled the McKinney gymnasium by installing a state-of-the art
sport court and bleachers.
- Increased our transportation fleet with the addition of a new 12
passenger van and a 29 passenger bus.
- Established our newest teen center was established in McKinney to
serve youth ages 13-18.
